Your new book

Post  thebiggfella on Tue Apr 20, 2010 7:17 am

Hi Drew. I've just read on your Facebook page that your new book is due to be finished (or is it on sale?) at the end of the month. Any chance of a brief synopsis? I'm looking forward to it! Thanks. Glynn.

New Book

Post  Drew Baye on Sat Apr 24, 2010 7:20 pm

I'm trying to finish all the writing this weekend so I have a week to edit and do the graphs, tables, and diagrams for it. We plan to have it available next weekend.

The book is purely focused on building muscle (fat loss will be the focus of book 2, and 3 will contain detailed instructions for the performance of all the recommended exercises) and a major difference between this and other bodybuilding books is a heavy emphasis on individual variability and the need to determine the best way for each individual to train based on the principles covered, rather than a specific program.

Although it varies from topic to topic the general chapter structure is: state the principle, provide background information and debunk common misconceptions, provide guidelines for applying the principle in accordance with the readers unique response to exercise.

I have tried to write it in a similar manner to the Nautilus Bulletins, with each chapter addressing a specific principle or aspect of training, with everything very straight forward and to the point.

As of now, we plan to have it available before the end of the first week of May. Quite frankly, I have no choice. If I don't, my wife is going to kill me because she's getting really sick of me telling her "just two more weeks, baby" every time she asks when I'm going to be done.

Thanks for the reply Drew. Sounds great. I didn't actually realise that there would be other books to follow. You've got a great incentive to get the book out by the first week in May. It's always good to keep the wife onside. Wink

HIT Book

Post  Drew Baye on Sun Apr 25, 2010 1:00 pm

I've got a business partner now who is helping with my web site, marketing, and generally handling the business end of things so I can focus just on writing and eventually producing other info products. The goal is to produce enough information products (books, videos, courses, etc.) that I can be more selective about my personal training clients, and start hand picking people for bodybuilding-focused experiments.

I'm going to be doing my own version of the Colorado Experiment with a local guy I trained back in 07. He came to me to help get his leg strength up for a cycling trip he was taking with friends out west - was going to be doing more hills than he was used to and wanted to be ready for it. Without it even being the goal, he gained 8 pounds of muscle in about 3 weeks, up from 165 to 173.

He hasn't done any strength training since, and is back down to his previous weight. I have gotten in touch with him again and offered to train him for free for a short period of time if he agrees to follow all of my instructions, including food intake and sleeping hours, to the letter. I don't expect to produce another Casey Viator, but I think this guy will be a good example of what someone with good genetics can accomplish in a short time with proper training.

Gotta run, more later...

Still editing

Post  Drew Baye on Thu May 13, 2010 2:48 pm

I underestimated the amount of time needed to edit and am finding things I want to reword, as well as doing a lot of cutting. Too much unnecessary verbiage.

book

Post  Drew Baye on Sun Jun 13, 2010 4:17 pm

Trying to get it wrapped up as quickly as possible without it sucking:)

It's in more of an "essay" format, similar to the Nautilus Bulletins. A lot of short chapters, each addressing some principle, or aspect of exercise performance, program design, or diet (geared towards muscle gain)

Adding in a few more things based on feedback from members of my email newsletter, and going through and adding references where information came from a study or book
