How should you do vacuums?

Hi,
I have some questions about the stomach vacuum exercise. How should I do vacuums in order to strengthen my inner abdominal wall, pull a good vacuum pose, and to have a good control of my abdominal area? How often should I perform this exercise? How many reps? How many sets?
At the moment I do 10 reps for 10 seconds each on most days. Some days I take a break in order to rest. Does rest is necessary when it comes to vacuums? If so, how much rest is needed?
